Visual Art

Haitian Art Gallery
In the seaside town of Montrouis a couple of hours north of Port au Prince, several wonderful artists once lived by selling their paintings to tourists. But Haiti since fell on hard times. Soon few if any tourists visited. But the artists persisted. In fact, they expanded their horizons. They began to take on very poor, local kids as apprentices. They call themselves “The Alternative Art Studio.” We visited the Alternative and were awed both by the art and the learning. We decided to support the project by helping to sell the work of both masters and apprentices at prices that are fair.
